My Abundance Story: How Citrine Helped Me Shift from Survival into Manifesting and Receiving

I was born in San Diego in 1972 under a glowing golden crescent moon. My mother was a seventeen-year-old hippie; my biological father was 18 and out of the picture almost immediately. My mother came from Irish Euro decent, and my father was a Native American of Apache and Genizaro roots mixed with European. I couldn't ask for a better mix of powerful intuitive bloodlines. Although the Irish and Native American and both sides of my family are plagued with their own. "Generational Trauma" and its cousin, "Generational Wealth Trauma," are heavy burdens to carry. Growing up, the concept of abundance didn’t exist in our vocabulary, nor in the homes of anyone I knew. There’s no way to sugarcoat it: if you haven’t experienced that level of lack, you can’t truly relate to it. By the time I was three, my mom was twenty one, divorced from our father and had three kids, shortly after navigating life with a new boyfriend. They were young parents making it up as they went, doing the best they could with what they had. So much chaos, so much trauma, so much lack of everything. 

I was a sandy blonde hippie girl raised in Golden Hills, an area mostly known today as "South Park," in San Diego just above Downtown San Diego.  My environment was free-spirited and humbling, literally like the little rascals having a blast, yet extremely chaotic and dangerous at times. It was a childhood shaped by violence but resilience, fear and fierce independence, and a very deep long journey to the connection to my roots and ancestors, a journey that is still writing its own chapters. Growing up in San Diego in the 70's was a vibe you just can't replicate today, it was feral, free, and sun drenched. We were the ultimate "latchkey" generation, fueled by nothing but grit and the salty Pacific air. I spent my days roaming the canyons and the hilly streets of Golden Hills, my skin permanently bronzed and my hair lightened by the sun. There were no cell phones tracking our every move or documenting our chaos; we just knew to be home when the streetlights flickered on. We’d pile into the back of old trucks, or my Mothers Volkswagen Van, to head to the beach, skate or bike down steep concrete hills without a care in the world. We camped on the beaches of Mexico without a fear in the world. It was a time of absolute autonomy, where the city was our playground and the ocean was our backyard. That wild, unsupervised freedom gave me a certain kind of "street smarts" and an unshakable independence that modern life rarely allows for anymore. It trained me like a soldier to handle the hardships that life would continue to throw at me.

Overcoming Generational Wealth Trauma & Learning Self-Worth

I learned the value of hard work early. There were no shopping sprees or good new clothes; we wore the cheapest of the cheap. By nine or ten, I was sweeping neighbors’ floors for two dollars just to have bus fare for school, or to get out to Mission Beach on a weekend. I was working part-time by eleven and nearly full-time by fifteen. While that foundation built my work ethic, it also carved out a damaging pattern of over-giving and under-receiving. People knew I was desperate for money, and I was often treated accordingly. I worked countless jobs to stay afloat, knowing that if I wanted anything of value, I’d have to provide it myself. We were the kind of kids who dug through couch cushions for coins to buy a soda, not completely destitute, but rarely having enough. That subtle imprint stays in your energy. I wasn't thinking about abundance; I was thinking about survival. I was trapped in a cycle of "Generational Wealth Trauma," knowing how to work hard but having no idea how to value myself or receive. Like so many women, I lived in a constant state of over-functioning and undervaluing.

Understanding Generational Wealth Trauma, Overworking & Self-Worth

By my mid-twenties, I was married to a young man that came from lack of financial support as well, and a lack of connection to the truth of Spirit, rather than an organized system of lies and deceit. He was trapped in old thought processes and patterns that I believe may still confine him till this day.  I was young, in love, and a really hard worker in almost every field, yet I remained undervalued and underpaid. At twenty-four, I was hired to manage a boutique in Mission Beach called The Basement (if you knew, you knew). It was the place to be and shop. I thought it would be a dream, working with women in a field I loved: fashion. Instead, I found a den of lost souls being cruel to one another just to feel significant. It was backstabbing and manipulation at its worst. I didn’t have the language skillset at the time to fight against a group of broken and misinformed humans. My marriage was declining before my eyes due to the manipulative world we had set up for ourselves. Epically fun Clubs of the 90's, drugs, manipulation and deceit. Although I wasn’t one for the drugs, it felt like everyone around me was diving a little too deep for my taste. Many lost souls creating chaos and more manipulation. Even though I came from a young mother, I was taught many values about right and wrong. My intuition was running off the charts and my 1st husband was lacking intuition, ethical behavior, and controlled by old and corrupt systems. He was manipulative, completely emotionally unavailable, and so easily controlled by those around him. Simply put, our paths had to go in different directions. It was a deep heartbreak but a very necessary one for me to grow and flourish.

But every situation has a silver lining. Shortly before I resigned from this “dream job”, I discovered Citrine. It was a cinematic moment that would quietly begin transforming my relationship with energy. I didn’t understand the stone, but I knew I had to have it. I didn’t have the language yet to explain my intuition or the frequencies I was experiencing, but I knew I was vibrating on a different level than those around me. Before I left that boutique, separated from my young marriage, I bought three Natural Citrine rings and 2 Citrine pendants. They made me so happy. It reminded me of huge yellow diamonds. My heart was so sad from all of these people I surrounded myself with. I felt as if I had wasted so much time. Those that I thought I could trust, became trapped in their own dark stories, and my chapter was closing to save myself from them. Almost overnight a new chapter was unfolding, when I first discovered this stone of Natural Citrine, it was as if my soul just lit me up inside and out. I wore them every day, for the next 10 years.

The Path of Transformation: Loss, Awakening & Stepping Into My Purpose

Within a few months, my life took off on a wild journey of almost 13 years. I moved out of state immediately, got re-married within 18 months, bought a dream home, and gave birth to my first Daughter in 1999. Truly stepping into a new and abundant era! I opened two boutiques on my own by time she was 2, and a landscaping company about 6 years later with the father of my children. We had an amazing intuitive daughter, lived on the East Coast, and eventually moved to Costa Rica to retire. I was truly learning to value who I was consciously and abundantly. Then the world took a massive turn. So many of us barely survived the 2008-2010 crash, losing almost everything, everything we had worked for…and having to leave our dream of retiring in Costa Rica. Losing everything we had gained monetarily. The one thing life has shown me is that change is constant, and you better know how to pivot, if you want to survive. After leaving our retirement dream, we eventually landed in the Redwoods of Northern California. Slept in a trailer in the Emerald Forest near Trinidad in Northern, CA for about 2 months before finding our new home for the next 3 years. Unfortunately, there are some that don’t know how to pivot. Some people can turn on those they love the most to run from the ruin and try to find greener pastures. Rather than knowing that change is always a gift in one way or another. They run and hide in the wilderness, creating more chaos and problems. 

That was simultaneously a collective of epic and trauma induced chapters that unfolded over a 13 year journey. The last chapter of the 13 years we spent together was undeniably one of the most difficult chapters of my life. I understood, as I did before that this to must end to save myself and my children. Trusting my intuition, I made the decision to return to my beloved San Diego after three years of living in Humboldt, CA. In 2011, after the birth of my second child, I filed for divorce again, marking another profound turning point.“ I experienced an abusive relationship dynamic that was emotionally draining and imbalanced, where I feel as if many parts of myself were stolen. I had to learn how to reclaim my voice, worth, and inner strength. This is where I discovered my love of Labradorite for protection , Moonstone for transformation, and the Power of The Evil Eye. This moment became the beginning of a deep, 15-year journey of rebuilding, healing, and breaking generational trauma cycles. It was time to take everything I had learned, reclaim my power, and consciously create the next chapters of my life.

I studied in Humboldt, CA to become an herbalist before I left there. Once I was back in San Diego, I spent almost 10 years studying the philosophy of Yoga, and studied to become a  Reiki Master, was double certified in ThetaHealing® (Basic DNA and Advanced DNA), and trained in ThetaHealing® Neurolinguistics, mastered my Mediumship, opened the Akashic Records, tapped into Generational Trauma Mapping, and dove into Intuitive Tarot, created a range of  intuitive courses. I also learned how to tap into the energy of each crystal metaphysically. Through this journey I learned to blend all of these powerful hard lessons in my life, and I had learned to master the modalities I had been studying since 2011, and before unconsciously. All of these chapters led me on a journey to support others during their tough journeys and breaking cycles of trauma. Helping so many women escape cycles of Generational Trauma. I know that Spirit led me on this path to follow my souls journey of being of service to so many others to find the Golden light at the end of the tunnel.

When Citrine entered my life in the 90’s back in that little boutique, I began an epic expansion of awareness. I was drawn to its warmth and its glow. Simply its magic. Something shifted. But if you take a flower that managed to grow through a crack in the cement and move it into a beautiful garden, she will flourish. If I hadn’t learned to survive as a broke ass kid, tough relationships, or navigating away from the wrong people, I wouldn't have made it through many hardships, the darkness of 2008, the wrong people, or the 2 divorces that almost broke me. I followed my intuition, I followed my gut on building a journey to follow my soul's path. I have succeeded at many things and this journey is one of my proudest chapters.
